Bio:
I am a retired IT guy and have been a hobbyist woodworker all my adult life. Norm was my muse. I bought my first lathe 35 years ago and tried (and failed) several times over the years to gain useful skills on my own. A close friend in Wisconsin, who is a very accomplished turner, encouraged me to find a club. To my surprise and delight, I found there was one almost in my backyard and I joined last spring. In addition to attending the meetings, I have had lessons with 3 club members and have made about 75 tops for the cause. I am just starting to turn bowls, having been inspired by Larry Zarra‘s recent demonstration.
After having made several built-ins for our home, I had a pile of scraps left over and made some end-grain cutting boards for the first time and got a lot of encouragement that led me to start STUDIO28WOORDCRAFT, LLC in 2024 and for almost two years, I have been making sawdust for money.
